Regional Groups - Sense of Place Presentations

Dates we cover your region:
North Africa: March 26-30, Russia: April 9-13, Central Western Europe: April 16-20, Mediterranean Europe: April 23-27, Central America / Caribbean: April 30-May 4, Japan / Korea: May 7-11

Assignment:
On the Thursday of the week we cover your region, your group is going to teach the class about the place of your choice.

Pick a country, region, or city from your assigned chapter and use the class period to give us a sense of the place.

What would it be like to visit there? What is the culture like? Describe the climate and landscape. How do people make a living? How have human and physical geography shaped that place?

Requirements:

An outline from each group member of their part of the talk with proper MLA citations and a bibliography.
A large classroom type map that will help illustrate what you are talking about. I will help you produce a large outline map which you are to fill in and color with relevant information.
A list of URLs for websites that are related to what you are covering in your talk to post on the blog. If you find a good youtube video (short), I can post that as well.

What aspects of the place are you focusing on:

Write the name of each group member and in a paragraph or two, clearly explain what each member of the group is going to talk about, what they are responsible for. In a concluding paragraph, explain how it all fits together.

Be sure to practice ahead of time to make sure that each person has enough time to talk.

Let me know well ahead of time what you will need: if you plan to play music, present a powerpoint presentation etc.
